Captain Porky was one of Mal's stuffed animals and apparently one of his favorites.

Mal and Chad were going to test out Mal's jet pack backpack. They needed a dummy to test. Since Captain Porky was one of Mal's favorites, they wanted to use another stuffed animal. But unfortunately, Chad had already strapped Captain Porky into the backpack and pressed the button. So Porky flew into the sky.
Later, Zachary was using his new telescope to observe the upper atmosphere. He saw Captain Porky in the sky and mistook him for an alien.

- It's likely that Mal owned Captain Porky since he was very young, this is because Captain Porky is his favorite stuffed animal.
